Khalifa Kush announced on October 14 that it is entering New York through a partnership with Skyworld, a New York-based cultivator and distributor. Sales start October 31. The release counts the brand as active in 13 U.S. markets today, which makes New York number 14.
The opening lineup is two strains, KK and Violet Sky, sold as flower and pre-rolls, with more strains and formats promised later. The brand says it will launch in seven New York City locations plus 29 dispensaries across Upstate New York and Long Island, 36 in total, with wider distribution to follow.
The partnership structure is the notable part. Rather than shipping product in from elsewhere, the brand is relying on a licensed in-state grower to cultivate and distribute, which is how most out-of-state brands have had to enter New York's market. Wiz Khalifa said in the announcement that New York fans have asked for the brand for years.
Shoppers should keep expectations modest until the date. These are company-announced plans, and menus will show what actually lands on shelves. Check your local dispensary around Halloween if you want to try the strains, and note that pricing was not part of the announcement.
