Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill 2532 on October 1, adding new rules for multi-serving cannabis beverages in California. It cleared both chambers unanimously, 40-0 in the Senate and 74-0 in the Assembly.

Starting July 1, 2027, retailers must provide a free measuring device with each multi-serving beverage. The device has to hold at least one fluid ounce and measure to the nearest tenth of an ounce, and containers need clear serving lines.

Labels must identify the product as multi-serving and state the serving size in fluid ounces, and marketing can't pitch these drinks as single-serve. All edibles and beverages must also carry the national Poison Help number.

Beverage makers have about nine months to rework packaging, and retailers will absorb a small new cost per sale. The bigger signal is that lawmakers are treating THC drinks like a dosing-accuracy problem, which other states may copy.
